Azerbaijan may start supplying gas to Romania next year

12:33 - 12.07.2021

July 12, Fineko/abc.az. Until July 2022 Azerbaijani natural gas will be supplied to Romania via the Bulgaria-Greece interconnector (Interconnector Gris-Bulgaria; IGB), ABC.AZ reports citing Romanian Energy Minister Virgil Popescu.

According to the minister, Romania's interest in natural gas that will be transported from Azerbaijan, in principle, should be associated with transport fees within the optimistic scenario of the start of operations on projects on the Black Sea shelf.

Transgaz, the operator of gas pipelines in Romania, already charges local consumers for the costs incurred on the BRUA pipeline, although the BRUA pipeline still remains empty.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani natural gas will be transported to Romania via the BRUA pipeline.
