July 23, Fineko/abc.az. "To create the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region on our historical land, to make one of the villages – Khankendi, which was a village, its center and to name it after the executioner Shahumyan was an extremely negative step towards the Azerbaijani people. It was an insult to us."

ABC.AZ reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview for TV channel AZTV.

The head of state noted that history has put everything in its place.

"As for the status, 25,000 people are living there today. We have quite a wide and versatile information about the processes taking place there. We knew what was going on there before the war. Of course, we know now, because they are just below us. The real number of residents there is 25,000. Other figures were also called, they say, more than 50,000 people returned there after the war. Maybe, but going back doesn't mean staying there. He returned, then left back. Secondly, we have various technical means, a satellite. We know the number of cars there. We see the movement of people. As they say, there are other objective means, taking them as a basis, we know exactly how many people live there - maximum of 25,000. What logic does the creation of a status for 25,000 people fit into? " the president said.
