China has increased diamond imports


July 26, Fineko/abc.az. The value of imported diamonds during trading on the Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) reached a record level in the 1st half of the year, ABC.AZ was informed at the customs administration of Shanghai.

SDE, launched in October 2000, is the only operating platform in China that has a permit for the import and export of diamonds.

Country’s diamond imports in the 1st half of 2021 amounted to 10.5 bn yuan (about $1.6 bn), a rise of 4-fold compared with the same period of 2020 and by 45.3% compared with 1st half of 2019.
