Inflow of foreign citizens to Azerbaijan for Jan-Feb grew by 12%

April 2, Fineko/abc.az. The inflow of tourists to Azerbaijan increased by 12.1% for the first two months of 2018.

The State Customs Committee reports that 352,500 people from 139 countries arrived in Azerbaijan over Jan-Feb that is by 12.1% more than for the 2017 same term.

"29.3% of them came from Russia, 24.9% from Georgia, 13.8% from Turkey, 8% from Iran, 3.7% from UAE, 2.1% from Ukraine, 2% from Iraq, 16.1% from other countries and 0.1% are stateless persons," the SCC said.

The number of tourists basically increased from the Persian Gulf countries, in particular from Kuwait by 6 times, Qatar by 2.6 times, Bahrain by 2.5 times, Saudi Arabia by 2.5 times, Oman by 1.8 times, Iraq by 1.7 times, and the UAE by 1.3 times. The flow of tourists from Iran decreased by 26.7%, from the European Union did not change and totaled 11,300 people, and from the CIS countries increased by 4.6% up to 123,000 people.
