Georgia lifts fines from violators of quarantine rules

September 8, Fineko/abc.az. At a regular meeting the Georgian parliamentarians discussed a draft law cancelling fines issued to violators of restrictions imposed since 2020 as part of the fight against coronavirus.

ABC.AZ reports that the parliament adopted this bill in the 3rd reading.

According to the adopted decision, the amnesty on fines will affect those persons who violated the covid restrictions until 23 June 2021 inclusive.

Thus, with the entry into force of the draft law, fines for more than 245,000 individuals and 344 legal entities will be canceled.

According to preliminary estimates, in total, fines of 76 million lari (more than $24 million) will be written off.
