ICAO forecast: Airline losses to continue

September 9, Fineko/abc.az. In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic caused $371 bn in damage to airlines.

ABC.AZ reports that this is stated in the latest report of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), updated in early September.

Due to the quarantine and travel bans, 60%, or 2.7 bn fewer passengers were transported in 2020 than against 2019.

According to Ministry’s latest estimates, the quantity of passengers this year will also be at least 800 million people lower than in 2019.

In 2021, the losses of airlines will amount to about $310 - $320 bn.
