Price of diamond has increased – Reason is a new strain

16:37 - 29.11.2021

November 29, Fineko/abc.az. Raw diamond has risen in price by 5-10% over the past few days due to supply problems in South Africa and Botswana. ABC.AZ reports that the raw materials in these countries are the main ones in international corporation De Beers. Experts note that the growth was recorded against the background of the spread of a new strain of COVID-19 virus Omicron. The increase in diamond prices, combined with possible supply restrictions, has caused concern among processors from Surat and Mumbai, who receive orders for processed diamonds from the U.S., China and the Middle East.
