Prices for flour and bread regulated

January 6, Fineko/abc.az. Prices for food wheat, flour and bread in Azerbaijan are formed not on the basis of regulated tariffs, but on the basis of supply and demand in accordance with the principles of the market economy.

ABC.AZ was informed at the State Service for Antimonopoly Supervision & Control of the Consumer Market under the Ministry of Economy that with the purpose to prevent the price manipulation in the sales market, the State Service held negotiations with a number of large importers of food wheat, as well as with flour and bread producers, ensured control over this process.

Thus, taking into account import prices and processing costs, the real price for this product has now been formed, the maximum upper limit for the prices of flour and bread producers has been set: the wholesale price for a bag of flour of 50 kg has been set at 35.9 manats, the retail price for 500-gram traditional (round) bread is 50 gapiks, for 650-gram traditional (round) bread is 65 gapiks.

The State Service continues to exercise strict control over compliance with price limits. According to the results of monitoring of the first days, the wholesale price of flour ranges from 35.4 - 35.9 manats.

Currently, the State Service is preparing database to be regularly updated about the wholesale centers and points of flour producers, their working hours and wholesale prices, which will be made public during this day.
