World’s richest people doubled their wealth during the pandemic


January 17, Fineko/ Oxfam has published the names and fortunes of the richest people in the world.

ABC.AZ reports that the fortune of the 10 richest people in the world, including Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, has doubled since the beginning of the pandemic from $700 bn up to $1.5 trillion.

Another 163 million people started living below the poverty line, while the richest people increased their wealth with the support of government stimulus packages.

The income of Tesla founder Elon Musk and 9 other billionaires grew by $1.3 bn a day.

The names whose fortune has increased the most are Tesla founder Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and LVMH CEO, French businessman Bernard Arnault.

Musk's fortune has grown 10-fold in the first 20 months of the pandemic – up to $294 bn.
