Unemployment in eurozone fell to 7% in December

February 1, Fineko/abc.az. Unemployment in the eurozone fell to 7% in December from November's revised figure of 7.1%.

European statistical agency Eurostat’s report says that earlier the forecast of economists was 7.1%.

Analysts surveyed by portal DailyFX expected a decrease to 7.1%. The initial November figure was estimated at 7.2%.

At that, in the EU the unemployment fell to 6.4% in December, from November's 6.5%.

In December 2020, unemployment in the eurozone was 8.2%, and in the EU - 7.5%.

In absolute terms, the number of the unemployed in the EU for December 2021 amounted to 13.612 million people, including 11.481 million ones in the euro area.

The lowest unemployment among the EU countries in December was recorded in the Czech Republic (2.1%), Poland (2.9%) and Germany (3.2%). The highest level was observed in Spain (13%) and Greece (12.7%).
