February 3, Fineko/abc.az. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking at a government meeting today, spoke about the beginning of the construction of a railway in the Zangezur corridor.

ABC.AZ informs that Pashinyan said that Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of Russia, are very close to the start of construction and restoration of the railroad.

"We’re very close to recording the first result of the trilateral working group on unblocking regional communications. The visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov to Yerevan was dated to coincide with the construction of railway line Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Goradiz. You know we’ve already reached agreements, and an integral part of these agreements is the fact that we must build a railway that will operate in Armenia and Azerbaijan in accordance with the laws of these countries," Pashinyan said at a government meeting on Thursday.

According to the PM, the issues of design, start of construction and financing are being discussed.

"We believe that in the near future the possibility of implementing this project will become substantive," Pashinyan said.
