Azerbaijan Railways increased passenger traffic

February 10, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan Railways transported 2,826,092 passengers in 2021 (33% more against 2020).

ABC.AZ reports that 97.2% of passenger traffic (or 2,746,748 people) accounted for the Baku-Sumgait electric trains in 2021 (51.1% more versus 2020). Because of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), international passenger traffic decreased by 100% and domestic traffic by 71.3% to 79,344 people in 2021.

In 2021, Azerbaijan Railways carried 15.058 million tons of cargo (2.9% more than in 2020).

The transit cargo traffic grew by 11% up to 4.585 million tons and domestic cargo transportation by 7.85% up to 3.038 million tons last year.
