February 17, Fineko/abc.az. Armenia hopes to sign a legal document with Azerbaijan in the near future, which will allow the construction of railway line Arazdeyen-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Goradiz to begin.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Russian media that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a government meeting.

"We’re currently carrying out specific works on the construction of the Armenian section of railroad Arazdeyen-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Goradiz. Technical work has already begun. In the near future, we hope that the agreements reached will be reflected in the form of a document (with Azerbaijan - ed.) and the process will be fully developed," he emphasized.

The decision to build the railway line connecting Armenia and Azerbaijan was confirmed by both countries’ leaders Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev after a meeting in Brussels on 15 December 2021.

The relevant agreement was reached during the meeting of the trilateral working group with the participation of the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia.
