Azerbaijan creates a joint venture with two countries

With the purpose to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed to establish a joint venture that will solve issues relating to the determination of tariffs, cargo declaration, use of unified IT solutions and consolidation of transit cargo.

ABC.AZ reports that Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov held a regular meeting of the operational headquarters on anti-terrorist measures.

The meeting participants discussed the results of negotiations on the development of TITR and issues of transportation of Kazakhstani goods.

In order to develop the TITR, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia have agreed to establish a joint venture that will solve the issues of tariff determination, cargo declaration, use of unified IT solutions and consolidation of transit cargo. In total, the route is capable of transporting up to 10 million tons per year, including up to 200,000 containers. As for the current route passing through the port of Lianyungang (China), work is underway to reduce the tariff for transit cargo transportation.
