May 10, Fineko/abc.az. Solemn ceremony dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, was held on 10 May.

During the ceremony Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that following the path indicated by great leader Heydar Aliyev, the country was able to create powerful economy.

"There has not been a second country in the last 15 years, which has been developing economically at such high pace as Azerbaijan. Our economy has more than tripled. Leading international organizations, the Davos Economic Forum awarded the 35th place to Azerbaijan on competitiveness, and we occupy the 3rd place among developing countries. We have huge economic resources. Our currency reserves are 5-fold higher than our foreign debt. Fight against poverty and unemployment in Azerbaijan is producing excellent results. Great success was achieved when solving these large social problems. We’ve implemented historic energy and transport projects and their implementation continues. We’ve fully resolved questions relating to energy security within the country. Completion of large projects related to supply of energy resources of Azerbaijan to the world markets is expected in the future," the head of state said.

He underlined that Azerbaijan had become one of the transportation centers of Eurasia. The North-South and East-West transport corridors are being implemented at the expense of our large investments, and still unresolved questions in this area are bound to find a solution.

"We are successfully developing in all directions. Our development is based on the policy of great leader Heydar Aliyev. We are faithful to this policy and will not turn from the chosen path, we will always go forward.

I want to assure the people of Azerbaijan once again that we will always continue to follow the path of development and progress," President Ilham Aliyev said.
