15:49 - 20.05.2022

May 20, Fineko/abc.az. A protest rally is ongoing in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the Russian media that the participants of the rally gathered outside the Marriott Hotel, where the Armenian Democracy Forum is taking place with the participation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and US Ambassador Lynne Tracy. The oppositionists managed to get into the building with posters and photos of the arrested oppositionists, whom they consider political prisoners. However, State Security Service’s officials did not allow them to go directly into the hall. The MPs shouted "Shame!" and "Armenia without Nikol" in English.

The hotel where the event took place was surrounded by special police forces.

The Armenian opposition has previously accused the U.S. and the EU of pursuing policy of double standards in the country.
