Forecast: Recession awaits global economy

11:28 - 26.05.2022

May 26, Fineko/abc.az. World Bank’s president David Malpas does not rule out recession in the global economy in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

ABC.AZ reports that according to Malpas, this will still have negative impact on global GDP.

He noted that the situation will be "bad" for the peoples of Russia and Ukraine, but the impact of military actions in Ukraine will "go beyond" the two countries.

In particular, interruptions in grain supplies will be a blow to Lebanon, which does not have its own grain reserves.

He added that there is already a slowdown in the agricultural sector of other countries.

According to the WB’s president, who sees one more reason for the global recession in the reduction of Russia's energy supply in Europe, this threatens the world with hunger and poverty.
