Inflation in UK reaches its highest level in last 40 years

June 22, Fineko/abc.az. The inflation rate in the UK in May increased to 9.1% in annual terms, which has become the highest in 40 years.

ABC.AZ reports that consumer prices in the UK in May 2022 jumped by 9.1% compared with the same month of 2021, according to the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Monthly growth of consumer prices, recorded in April by 2.5%, in May amounted to 0.7%. Both inflation indicators are in line with economists' expectations. Further growth of inflation is expected with an additional rise of energy prices in the northern country.
