Islamic Development Bank started nomination of candidates for Scientific-Technology and Women awards for 2013
The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has called for nominations from individuals and organizations for two separate Prizes for the year 2013 for “Science and Technology” and “Women’s Contribution to Development”.
The Science and Technology (S&T) Prize recognizes performance of scientific institutions in applying science and technology for the socio-economic development of the IDB member countries and their citizens. A cash award of $ 100,000 is presented to each winner in three categories. The S&T Prize, established in 2001, has been awarded on an annual basis to 30 institutions since inception. The deadline for nominations is 15 October 2012.
The IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development recognizes and rewards outstanding achievements made by individual women as well as organizations to contribute to and integrate women in the socio-economic development process. In order to highlight various issues shaping our world and their specific effects on women, the theme of the Prize varies each year. The 2013 Prize is devoted to Women, Environment and Sustainable Development.
The Prize consists of a cash award of $50,000 for the individual category and $ 100,000 for the organization category. The Women’s Prize, established in 2006, has been so far awarded to 13 individuals and 12 organizations from around the world. The deadline for applications is 15 September 2012.
Further details on the Prizes are available on the IDB web-site www.isdb.org.
