Ganja automobile factory to start UAZ automobile assembling in September
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Since this September Ganja Automobile Factory (GanjAz) is to resume co-operation with Ulyanovsk car factory. GanjAz informed that in accordance with the agreement between them the Ganja enterprise will begin assembling manufacture of UAZ motor vehicles. “This project was initiated by the Russian party. GanjAz will assemble those UAZ models which conform to Euro-2 standard. Within 2007 the factory is going to make 80 UAZ automobile. If co-operation is profitable GanjAz will continue to production of Russian vehicles in 2008 as well,” a GanjAz source said. In 2005 GanjAz assembled UAZ cars in compliance with the contract with its Ulyanovsk counterpart. But this partnership lasted only a year. Last August GanjAz decided to stop UAZ co-operation as the Ulyanovsk factory had some problems when Russia introduced a requirement on conformity of produced output to Euro-2 standard and regular supply of affected components to the Ganja enterprise.
