Wartsila (Finland) and ABB (Sweden/Switzerland), the contractors of Azerenerji OJSC (State Electric Company of Azerbaijan), have completed preparing a Sangachal-based modular electric power station with capacity of 300 MW for putting into operation. Azerenerji informs that the station has been commissioned today – December 24. The station has 18 module generators with capacity of 16.6 MW each. Power from the station gets into energy system via six transformers with capacity of 63 MWamp each, six 110 KV electric transmission lines, four 220 KV electric lines within Sangachal substation system, and two 110 KV electric lines within Puta substation network. Construction is conducted by Azenco and equipment is supplied by Wartsila. Cost of the Sangachal station located 45 km far of Baku is EUR297 million. The project contractors are Wartsila and ABB. Wartsila offered new technology of transfer of module power plant operation from gas to black oil and vice versa, that will fasten much generation process. If earlier, according to the Finnish company, the transfer process took 24 hours, now this term was reduced to 30 minutes. Increase of power generating capacities in Sangachal is necessary for high-quality and regular power supply for the Absheron Peninsula.
