Azerbaijani President finished his first state visit to Greece

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The state visit of Azerbaijan leader Ilham Aliyev to Greece completed yesterday.

The Presidential Administration press service says that on the same day he returned to his Motherland. In the Baku airport he was met by President’s Office head Ramiz Mehdiyev and Baku mayor Hajibala Abutalibov.

Within the trip of the Azerbaijani President there was held Azerbaijan-Greek Business Forum on the theme “Business Co-operation Opportunities” that involved reps of some 100 Greek and 20 Azerbaijani companies.

The forum opening ceremony was participated by President Ilham Aliyev, his Greek counterpart Karolos Papulyas, and Greek prime minister Kostas Karamanlis.

Addressing to the forum Mr. Papulyas claimed that his country was interested to foster relationships with Azerbaijan, including partnership in the area of export and transit of energy products.

President Aliyev, in his turn, pointed out that Azerbaijan had great potential in non-energy sector as well.

“Over the last two years Azerbaijan has turned from a country importing gas into a country exporting it. Currently Azeri gas is exported to the European Union market, particularly to Greece,” he said.
