Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Centre for Economic Research has conducted alternate (non-governmental) calculation of minimum consumer basket in Azerbaijan.
The Centre reports that in October subsistence expenses per capita was 136.8 manats.
“The size of minimal consumer basket for able-bodied population was 129.12 manats. For pensioners it was estimated in 119.96 manats and for children (aged under 15 years old) in 161.45 manats,” it was reported.
For comparison: this September consumer basket for able-bodied population totaled 127.36 manats, for pensioners 117.76 manats and for children (aged under 15 years) 158.61 manats.
By early November manat exchange rate totaled 0.8032 manats to the US dollar, and in accord with it minimum consumer basket estimated in $170.3, $160.75 and $201 respectively.
In the budget package for 2010 minimum of subsistence per capita was defined at the level of 87 manats, for able-bodied population 96 manats, for pensioners 68 manats and for children 72 manats.
