Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Baku City Culture & Tourism Department has prepared the proposals for changes in cultural facilities of Azerbaijan.

Department’s head Alikram Aliyev says that the status of the Baku City Culture & Tourism Department should be re-considered.

“Authority given to our Department does not satisfy us. There is shortage of staff potential. The Department numbers totally 16 employees in the administration. Such departments are available in all regions. Each regional department has 300 employees. It means that only 16 persons carry out work of 11 regions’ cultural facilities. Our work is too much to bear for us,” Aliyev said.

He added that rest cultural facilities also needed changes.

“I consider that each settlement should have its own house of creation to personify its color. I also want to obtain self-support from each cultural facility. If we set up houses of creation, then they will be able to finance themselves. In regions in such creation houses artists can gather around themselves talented students and organize sales exhibitions of these students. We already have such experience. Last year we held a range of sales exhibitions. Domestic libraries should be provided with computer network and Internet. The changes should serve a basis for turning each cultural facility into an organization to operate at its own expense in the future,” Aliyev said.

The Department also prepared the relevant suggestions.

“Baku is numbering 84 libraries. We try to expand their activity. There such settlements where libraries are lacking. Formation of libraries should be considered anew. We have some proposals on the occasion. This year we plan to submit these offers to the ministries,” Aliyev said.
