Vaccine against A/H1N1 flue delivered in Azerbaijan

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In the nearest future distribution of vaccine against A/H1N1 swine flue will start in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Health informed that on December 8, vaccine against A/H1N1 flue, produced by GlaxoSmithKlein company, was delivered in Azerbaijan.

“Distribution of the vaccine will begin in the nearest future. At initial stage, the people, entering into the risk group, will be vaccinated voluntarily,” it was informed.

First of all, medical employees, the employees of  aviation, customs bodies, diplomatic missions, the people, entering into the risk group, which includes patients, suffering from chronic diseases, pregnant women, will be vaccinated.

Azerbaijan was supplied with 170,000 doses of vaccine through  the  World Health Organization (WHO).

The ordered quantity of vaccines covers only 1.89% of country’s population, estimated at 8.973 million people as of 1st October of the year.

Till January 8, 2010, only 14 infection cases with A/H1N1 flue have been registered in Azerbaijan.
