Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Baku City Culture & Tourism Department has reported of cultural and enlightening institutions’ problems appeared in 2009.

Department’s head Alikram Aliyev says that achievements of governance bodies for 2009 satisfy them.

“But nevertheless we expect more progress this year as there are still some problems despite certain success. In the course of our monitoring we revealed that some libraries are closed at the weekends, museum websites are not renewed, and heads of cultural facilities fail to inform of organized events. Problems also appear when making finance reports by cultural facilities,” Aliyev said.

To remove these deficiencies he suggested holding of special courses and recommended to use more effectively information technologies.

He also touched issues of rational use of state property.

“A great deal of business events for governmental agencies was arranged last year and that means expenditures for organizer institutions, but they were not paid correspondingly. Here it is needed to observe the principle of rational use of state property and each institution should take a due payment for organization of events. Only in this case self-financing of institutions is possible,” he said.
