Meat production increases by 6.9% in Azerbaijan in December

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In December, 2009, meat production in Azerbaijan increased by 6.9% versus November (when decline was 8.9% against October).

The State Statistics Committee (SSC) informs that in December 2009 meat production made up 26,300 tons versus 24,600 tons in November, 27,000 tons in October, 33,000 tons in September, 23,600 tons in August, 24,300 tons in July, 27,300 tons in June, 23,200 tons in May, 24,400 tons in April, 24,100 tons in March, 23,655 tons in February, 24,645 tons in January, 2009.

Over last year meat production totaled 305,100 tons that exceeded by 0.8% the production in 2008 (302,800 tons). In December, 2008, 25,300 tons of meat were produced versus 25,900 tons in December, 2007.

“In 2009, 1.433 million tons of milk were produced versus 1.38 million tons over 2008 (+3.7%) and 1.209 million eggs versus 1.008 bn eggs (+9.8%) and 1.008 bn eggs respectively,” the committee says.

Wool production made up 15,300 tons versus 14,800 tons a year earlier (+3.3%).

By 1st January 2010 country’s cattle stock increased by 1.2% up to 2.6 million heads on an annualized basis, while growth of sheep and goats made 1.3% up to 8.387 million heads. Pig stock reduced by 20.3% to 8,200 heads.

For comparison: as of 1st January 2009 country’s cattle stock increased by 1.5% up to 2.549 million heads on an annualized basis, while growth of sheep and goats made 1.2% up to 8.2 million heads. Pig stock reduced by 37.6% to 11,700 heads.
