Baku and other cities of Azerbaijan received swine flu vaccine
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has already distributed 90,000 doses of vaccine against swine flu (A/H1N1 virus). The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan reports that the country was brought the first batch of Arepanrix vaccine consisting of 172,000 doses. “The first part of 90,000 vaccine doses was distributed in Baku, Sumgait, Shirvan cities, in 15 regions and among medical services of governmental agencies. The rest 82,000 doses will be distributed among other regions of Azerbaijan. Policlinics of every district of Baku were provided for immunization. Up to date already 8,536 residents of Baku have undergone vaccination. No health worsening cases were revealed in this connection. Country’s other regions will get vaccine next week,” the Ministry informed. A/H1N1 virus vaccine imported in Azerbaijan was produced by company GlaxoSmithKlein. The vaccine was delivered to the country on 8 January 2010. Before that Azerbaijan registered only 14 cases of swine flu contamination.
