In 2009 cargo transit through Azerbaijan rose by 1.3%
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Last year’s cargo transit through Azerbaijan totaled 6.68 million tons versus 6.595 million tons in 2008 and 5.99 million tons in 2007. The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that in 2009 the major part of transit goods were sent to Switzerland (2.114 million tons), Italy (1.43 million tons), Bermuda Islands (1.422 million tons), Georgia (540,900 tons), Tajikistan (338,700 tons), Turkmenistan (302,700 tons), Russia (142,000 tons), Iran (139,800 tons), and Turkey (100,200 tons). Cargo transit for 2009 made up 101.31% with rise of 86,200 tons against the 2008 index. As a whole, during 2009 in the course of export and import operations 41.386 million tons of cargo were transported (44.3% versus the 2008 figure), including 33.975 million tons of export and 7.4 million tons of import. Export by sea made up 286,800 tons, by rail 3.22 million tons, by road 458,900 tons, by air 1.668 million tons, and via pipelines 28.335 million tons. Import included 5.456 million tons by rail, 1.5 million tons by road, 371,700 tons by sea, and 22,700 tons by air. In addition, during temporary regime the country exported goods for $138.04 million and imported for $452.77 million. Tags: cargo transit Related news
