Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology & defined the winner of tender for design, construction and development plan of a zoo park for protection of endangered species of animals.

Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources  Huseyn Bagirov informed that  the German-Turkish company,  which will create a zoo in area of more than 200 ha,  won the tender.

«The initial variant of the project of  zoo was prepared. There is no analogue of such specialized park in the Near East and in the Central Asia. The park will function  as a research center  as well,” minister said. Design work is expected to be started some day.

“I think, we become owners of the most modern object during 2-3 years,”  H.Bagirov said.

He also noted that international experts appealed to the country in order to abolish the Baku zoo, because it is prison for animals.

Let’s remind that the decree “On creation of a zoological park in Azerbaijan” was signed by Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev   on 26 December 2008.

In order  to implement the decree,  the Ministry established a workgroup, consisting of representatives of relevant ministries and committees to monitor the country’s territory to choose an area for the future park, study suitability of the area for these ends, definition of the park borders, making of a scheme map and introduction of necessary factors.

The zoo park project will not have analogs on its form and content in the world. It will be possible to get familiarized in the zoological park with flora and fauna of Azerbaijan, as well as other continents of the world.

Azerbaijan President allocated AZN 2.85 million from Presidential Reserve Fund, envisaged by the 2008 state budget,  to carry out necessary research on the territory, given for the future park and making of design and construction projects and plan of development of the park.
