Angela Merkel calls Azerbaijan an important partner to which Germany is ready to assist

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani leader has completed his working trip to Germany.

The Azerbaijani Presidential Administration’s press service informs that following the visit German chancellor Angela Merkel and President Ilham Aliyev made a joint statement.

Ms. Merkel claimed of the country’s readiness to give support to Azerbaijan in various fields, stressing that Azerbaijan as oil and gas country is an important partner for Germany.

President Aliyev, in his turn, pointed out that in three years after his previous visit to Germany their countries’ ties had developed rapidly. Today Azerbaijan is numbering about 100 German companies but, according to the Azerbaijani leader, the country experiencing period of modernization has demand for German technologies. In its turn, Azerbaijan is ready to make contribution to solution of issues of energy security of Europe.

President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan acceded to the European Union’s program Eastern Partnership and that would allow conducting reforms in diverse areas of the country.

Today the Azerbaijan president is taking part in Munich security conference.
