Turnover of Azerbaijani payment system exceeds AZN $5.97 billion in January
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In January, 2010, turnover of Azerbaijani large-value payment system (AZIPS) and Azerbaijan’s low-value settlements and clearing system (XOHKS) amounted to more than $5.972 bn against $97.31 bn for 2009 and $95.867 bn for 2008. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) informs that in January 2010 overall number of members of the above-listed domestic payment systems made 99 organizations as well as between August and December 2009 versus 98 ones between March and July, 97 between January and February of 2009, 98 in December 2008, 100 members in August and September 2008. The number of member organizations in AZIPS remained 48 against 47 ones between January and July 2009, 46 in 2008, as well as between August and December 2009. XOHKS observed the same number of organizations as in March – 51 ones versus 50 ones in January and February 2009, 51 in 2008, 52 in September and 53 in August 2008. XOHKS started 2008 with 52 members. In January, 2010, overall turnover of AZIPS and XOHKS totaled AZN 4.799 bn on 642,000 payments versus AZN 11.434 bn on 929,000 payments (record for all history of the country’s payment system) in December 2009. For comparison: in January 2009 turnover made AZN 5.357 bn on 260,000 payments. Over 2009, turnover made AZN 78.13 bn on 6.695 million payments. In 2008, overall turnover of AZIPS and XOHKS amounted to AZN 76.79 bn on 2.398 million payments. Manat exchange rate by the beginning of February 2010 was AZN 0.8035 to the US dollar. Related news
