Iran starts uranium enrichment to 20% in presence of inspectors of IAEA

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Iran implemented its promise to begin uranium enrichment to "weapon" level.

Iranian mass media inform that Iran has begun uranium enrichment to 20 % in the presence of inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

A representative of Iran in IAEA Ali Asgar Soltaniye said that inspectors of the organization,  before supervising uranium enrichment to low levels, can remain in all nuclear enterprises of the country to carry out monitoring  in future.

“Up to now we have not received any answer to our offers. We cannot compel our hospitals and patients to wait for radioactive isotopes,” A. Soltaniye said. According to him, uranium, which is produced in local reactors, should be used for treatment of cancer as well.

“International organizations pushed the Iranian leadership to take such decision because western plan on provision with nuclear fuel with assistance of France and Russia failed,” A.Soltaniye summarized.

Earlier, the offer of "six" of nuclear powers consisted in sending of 70% of Iranian low enriched uranium to carry out acid treatment to Russia and afterwards — to France to produce fuel assemblies.
