Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Growth rate of Azerbaijan’s internal trade turnover (with taking into account services to the population) in 2010 exceeded 2.4-fold the rate of growth of country’s real GDP. As a result, internal trade turnover made up 42.09% of GDP for the first half of 2010 versus 46.03% of GDP in 2009.

The State Statistics Committee reports that in the 1st half of 2010 Azerbaijan’s internal trade turnover totaled AZN 8.285 bn ($10.306 bn in accord with exchange rate of AZN 0.8039 to the US dollar by 1 July 2010) and exceeded the 2009 first half’s indicator by 9%.

Last year Azerbaijan’s internal trade turnover totaled AZN 15.916 bn ($19.819 bn in accord with exchange rate of AZN 0.8031 to the US dollar) and exceeded the 2008 indicator by 9.9%.

Azerbaijan’s GDP (AZN 19.68 bn) rose only by 3.7% for the past half of 2010. At that internal trade turnover per capita reached AZN 154.7 versus AZN 149.5 in 2009 (+AZN 13.9 versus the level of 2008).

Following the first half of 2010 retail trade turnover ensured 72.4% of overall turnover and services to the population 27.6%. Retail trade turnover totaled AZN 6.258 bn with growth of 8.4%, while volume of paid services AZN 2.026 bn with rise of 10.5%. Retail trade turnover per capita reached AZN 172.4 and paid services AZN 37.8.

Following 2009 retail trade turnover ensured 69.5% of overall turnover and services to the population 30.5%. Retail trade turnover totaled AZN 11.828 bn (AZN 1.338 bn in December 2009) with growth of 8.9%, while volume of paid services AZN 4.088 bn (AZN 492.3 million) with rise of 12.5%. Retail trade turnover per capita reached AZN 111.1 (+AZN 7.8 compared to the 2008 index), and paid services AZN 38.4 (+6.1%).
