Baku, Fineko/abc.az. 20 percent rise in prices for wood and forest products was registered  in connection with expectations of restriction of wood export from Russia at Azerbaijani building materials market.

A Russian business representative in Azerbaijan Yuriy Shedrin informed  Fineko/abc.az, presently, efforts are made to avoid introduction of restrictions (absolute prohibition or prohibitive export duties) on wood export from Russia as it has happened with grain.

“Nevertheless,  we hope that restrictions will not be, and Russia will keep the traditional status of a supplier of wood on the Azerbaijan market  in 2010 too,” Y. Shedrin said.

The Russian government considers prospects of restriction of wood export in connection with unprecedented forest fires in  summer of 2010.
