Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Environment & Natural Resources of Azerbaijan is taking measures aimed to prevent fires in forests.

Environment minister Huseyngulu Bagirov says that forest fires often occur during the summer.

"Azerbaijan does not register strong forest fires. At that, 95% of country’s forest fires occur because of carelessness of people. Vacationers and, in general, people should be especially careful in the summer, as at this time forests are more prone to fires and a butt thrown out of negligence can become a cause of the fire,” he said.

The minister says that within fire prevention activities the MENR holds seminars for employees responsible for fire safety of forests.
