Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Nabucco Gas Pipeline Project is going to lose finally its economic sense, if of course the European Union does not plan to raise gas prices up to $1,000 per cu m.

National Development Minister of Hungary Tamás Fellegi has stated that the cost of Nabucco gas pipeline will exceed the original plans by 4 times.

"No one can predict the final cost of Nabucco, but according to optimistic estimates, its cost may reach 24-26 bn euro," Mr. Fellegi said.

He also questioned the viability of Nabucco, in the absence of firm commitments from prospective buyers and suppliers of gas. Meanwhile, the Nabucco consortium has not completed its reassessment of the project and operates the original cost of the project (7.9 billion euro).
