Azerbaijan introduces audit and certification of public sites
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Communications & IT (MCIT) of Azerbaijan starts the measures of response to external cyber attacks that led to hacking of 25 Azerbaijani sites on 16 January. Communications minister Ali Abbasov has informed that it is planned to certify the work of government sites and take complex measures in this regard in order to strengthen the security of local web resources. "We intend to develop institutional and legal documents, collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure information security, as well as strengthen cooperation with international organizations, coordinating the activities in the Internet," Abbasov said. According to the minister, in Azerbaijan anyone is free in his desire to create a website, and this leads to the creation of not always sufficiently protected resources. "Cyber attacks on 25 Azerbaijani sites, located mainly on the two servers of the Special State Protection Service and the MCIT carried out by direct exposure to the sites, and servers of these structures were not damaged and continued to function normally. In order to prevent recurrence of such incidents we’ll make an audit of creation of state websites, and introduce relevant certificates for creation of responsible resources,” he said.
