Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Communications & IT of Azerbaijan is preparing a comprehensive manual in connection with the transition to digital television.

The MCIT reports that the Manual includes full information on transition to new broadcasting format for citizens, the list of necessary equipment for this and gives detailed explanation of the entire transition process. The Manual will be presented to the public in the coming days.

Within the transition to a new format of broadcasting by part of the population that uses TV sets not supporting the digital format, this part of citizens will have to acquire appropriate decoders whose value ranges 30 to 60 manats, depending on the manufacturer.

To ensure the transition to new broadcasting format, the poor layers of the population will be provided devices for watching digital TV free of charge. The relevant proposal were prepared and submitted to the President in this connection. In case a positive decision is taken on the matter, 120,000 low-income families will receive necessary digital decoders for watching digital channels free of charge. This year the country plans disconnection of analog broadcasting. It should be noted that 20 countries transferred to digital broadcasting by stopping analogue one in 2011.
