EU called 4 vitality factors of South Gas Corridor
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. European Union has determined 4 vitality factors of South Gas Corridor project in which Azerbaijan still remains EUs only partner.
Today at the press conference in Baku head of EU delegation in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia has reported that Azerbaijan and EU have their ambitions in energy cooperation and if there are ambitions and agreements, the decisions should also be ambitious.
" EU suggest 4 elements covering all possible decisions on South Corridor project ",- R. Kobia said.
In his words , the first element assumes creation of own oriented infrastructure as the existing networks can accept gas streams of South Corridor. For this Azerbaijan initiated TANAP Trans Anatolian Gas Pipeline.
The second element is search for long term and ambitious solution on South Gas corridor , for which joint transport mechanism is needed. This element assumes further gas supplies from not only Shah Deniz 2 but other projects in Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea (Umid, Absheron and so on ) to European markets.
The third element is consideration of expansion variants of already selected infrastructures capacities for gas supplies from Shah Deniz 2 as the existing pipelines can not accept gas in small volumes or already used.
" It is known that EU has become the coordinator of negotiation process between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on Trans-Caspian Pipeline (TCP) construction. In the course of negotiations Turkmen gas can also be included in South Gas Corridor. Presently talks are underway on 2 agreement texts which I can not voice now ",- R. Kobia said.
In his words the fourth element assumes acceleration of route selection process for pipeline export to Europe as well as specific implementation of South Gas Corridor project.
