Resettlement of population from territory of ‘Winter Boulevard’ of Baku to finish in April
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Construction of the "Winter Boulevard" in the center of Baku is to complete in 2013.
The Baku City Executive Power reports that work on park construction and a two-storey underground car park on the territory of the "Winter Boulevard" on Fizuli Street (former Basin Street) is underway.
"By the end of April we plan to complete fully move of the population from this territory, and all work on the construction of the park and parking will be over next year," a Baku Executive Power’s source said.
Earlier, the State Committee for Architecture & Urban Planning of Azerbaijan says that according to the Draft Master Plan, construction of the "Winter Boulevard" is expected on this territory.
Under the Draft Plan (approved in 1985), the Winter Boulevard will stretch from the railway station of Baku to Azerbaijan Drama Theatre. The Winter Boulevard implies a kind of shelter from wind as Baku is the "city of winds", and it is hardly useful to walk on the Baku Boulevard in winter because of wind, cold temperature and humidity. There is almost no wind in this part of the city because of its location.
Besides, construction of an additional exit of metro station The 28th of May is planned in this area.
Landscaping has already been launched partly on this territory. Thus, roads (on Samed Vurgun Street) were expanded on the area adjacent to the construction zone.
