Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Over the last 5 years maternal mortality in Azerbaijan has halved.

At Cabinet’s meeting health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev informed that this was contributed by programs on protection of health of mothers and children, creation of perinatal centers, and improvement of various services in this area in Azerbaijan.

"Compared with 2006, when the country’s maternal mortality rate was 34.2 cases per 100,000 people, in 2011 this figure halved to 15.2 cases, and the infant mortality rate dropped from 12.7 children to 10.8 children per 1,000 children," he emphasized.
