Azerbaijan called the route of Trans Caspian Gas Pipeline laying from Turkmenistan
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has called the route of Trans Caspian Gas Pipeline laying.
Today in Baku Industry and Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Natig Aliyev has reported that Trans Caspian Gas Pipeline will be a separate system- it will not connect either to Shah Deniz infrastructure or any other infrastructure.
"I think it will be laid from Cheleken island to Sangachal infrastructure , but that is the topic of technical investigations which have not been carried out yet. The investigations carried out earlier were not serious and that is why we need repeated investigations on this project to find more efficient ways ",- the Minister said.
N. Aliyev also said that today European Investment Bank (EIB) and some European banks have announced readiness to finance this feasibility study on the proposal of European Commission.
In turn Turkmenistan is ready to provide guarantees for transportation of at least 10 bn cu m of gas per year via South Gas corridor.
Already political declaration of three Presidents ( Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and EU ) as well as the intergovernmental agreement between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on construction of Trans Caspian gas pipeline are being prepared. Guarantee and the sides’ liabilities are the main principles. Azerbaijan expects consideration and solution of the issue on funding mechanism of TCG construction which demand participation of private companies. They own the gas designed for transportation to Europe.
Special Commission has been created for negotiations led by Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and European Commissar on Energy Issues Günter Ottinger.
On 10 May the World Bank will finish the tender for contractor selection to carry out pre investment assessment of TCG. 5 consortiums participate in it one of which includes Azerbaijani ASPI Consulting Engineers.
