IMF starts consultations on pension reform in Azerbaijan
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Today the IMF has finished its mission. It has been holding consultations with Azerbaijani government on economic policy issues, development prospects and future discussion on the issues of Article IV on the fund creation since 24 April. Following the mission, the Mission Head Nadeem Ilahi has reported that Azerbaijani government applied to the Fund for expert assessments of pension reform. " We are not a specialized agency but provided technical consultations in a number of countries on strategic issues of pension reforms. Similar technical assistance to Azerbaijan can start in the next few months ",- N. Ilahi said. Azerbaijan has already worked out a long term forecast of pension system development, but postponed introduction of accumulative pension system and development of private pension funds institution. In spite of all success of pension reform, Azerbaijan still seriously lags from even the weakest members of European Union on pension provision level. Tags: Nadeem Ilahi, pension reform Related news
