Construction of first methanol plant in Azerbaijan ended
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has completed construction of the first methanol plant. Nizami Piriyev, President of the Azerbaijan Methanol Company (AzMeCo), says that construction of the plant has been finished and start-up work is under. "Testing of the plant will last for some more months. We are planning to start its operation this November," Piriyev said. Today, every part of the plant is inspected separately by the state commission, filled with nitrogen and preserved in order to prevent its rusting before plant’s start-up. This work is conducted by a team of 85 people. "At the primary stage the plant will operate with 60% of its capacity, but by March 2013 it will reach its full capacity of up to 720 tons a year," Piriyev said. The plant will use British technology ICI, the owners of which is company Johnson Matthey. Plant’s work will be fully automated. Total 24 operators to work in 3 shifts or six operators in 1 shift will manage the work of the enterprise. Investment in the plant construction totaled $350 million not taking into account interests on raised financing. Portal abc.az plans to publish the full interview with Pirieyev later. Related news
