Baku, Fineko/abc.az. As of 1 June 2012 the Compulsory Insurers Bureau’s member companies concluded 388,800 agreements on car owner civil liability insurance.

The CIB informs that 80,800 out of overall number of agreements accounted for foreign cars entering the country as transit transport for 1 month.

“118,400 agreements were concluded in May and 19,100 of them fell on the share of foreign vehicles entering the country as transit transport for period of up to one month. Overall premiums on agreements signed in May 2012 reached AZN 8.9 million," the Bureau informed.

Only 11 out of 28 presently operating insurance companies in the country can deal with such insurance now (Pasha Sigorta, Atesgah Sigorta, Standard Insurance, AtaSigorta, Xalq Sigorta, AXA MBASK, AzSigorta, Alfa Sigorta, AzerSigorta, Meqa Sigorta, Ipek Yolu Sigorta).

As of 1 January 2012 the country registered 1.037 million vehicles. As a result, this year (as of 1 May) 309,000 car owners passed compulsory insurance on new standards or 29.7% of the cars registered by early 2012.
