Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In May 2012 Azerbaijan’s GDP made up only 97.5% of April’s index (AZN 4.335 bn), and the record index for 2011 and entire history of the country was registered in October 2011 (AZN 6.106 bn).

The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan (SSCA) informs that for Jan-May of the year country’s GDP totaled AZN 20.852 bn or $26.395 bn in accord with reported term’s average exchange rate of AZN 0.79 to the US dollar that in comparable prices is by 0.7% more than GDP for Jan-May 2011 (AZN 19.92 bn). This May GDP totaled AZN 4.22 bn against AZN  4.33 bn in April, AZN 4.287 bn in March, AZN 3.9 bn in February, and AZN 4.091 bn in January. Over Jan-May 2012 nominal GDP grew by 4.6% versus 17.9% for 2011 and 16.8% for 2010.

For comparison last year GDP was AZN 50.069 bn or AZN $63.378 bn which is by 0.1% more than GDP for 2010 (AZN 42.465 bn). In December 2011 GDP was AZN 4.59 bn versus AZN 4.786 bn in November and AZN 6.106 bn in October- absolute record for the entire history.

For Jan-May 2012 GDP per capita totaled AZN 2.281 ($2,901.9), adding AZN 460.5 ($587,3) in May versus AZN 473.9 ($602.7) in April , AZN 5,530.6 (($7,003.4) in 2011 and AZN 4,653.3 ($5,797.8) in 2010. The GDP deflator index for Jan-May was +3.9% versus 9.3% for Jan-May 2011.

Over Jan-May added value in manufacture made up AZN 11.979 bn (57.4% of GDP), in agriculture AZN 598.9 million, construction AZN 1.581 bn, transport AZN 1.05 bn, communications AZN 361.1 million, wholesale and retail trade AZN 1.52 bn, and social services AZN 2.18 bn.

The share of production sector in GDP structure was 67.9% (AZN 14.16 bn) with added value decrease by 1.7%, the share of services 25.9% (AZN 5.406 bn) with added value rise of 5.8% and net production and import taxes 6.2% (AZN 1.28 bn) with rise by 7.7%.
