Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Investments in Azerbaijani economy in May 2012 rose by 1.95% against April but turned out to be 2.3 fold less than record level of December 2011.

The State Statistics Committee (SSC) informs that for Jan-May 2012 capital investments in country’s economy totaled AZN 4.47 bn ($5.66 bn in accord with average exchange rate: AZN 0.79 to the US dollar) that is by 28.3% more versus the 2011 same term. In May investments totaled AZN 1.198 bn (still the best indicator this year) against AZN 1.175 bn in April, AZN 903 million in March, AZN 737 million in February and AZN 459.4 million in January.

Over 2011 capital investments in country’s economy totaled AZN 12.776 bn or $16.17 bn (+27.3% versus 2010).

In December 2011 investments totaled AZN 2.759 bn (the best monthly indicator for the entire history).

In 2010 investments made up AZN 9.715 bn, including AZN 2.01 bn (the former best index of investments per month for the entire history) in December.

According to the SSC data, for Jan-May 2012 domestic sources’ investments totaled AZN 3.4 bn that makes up 76.5% of all investments. Foreign investments reached AZN 1.05 bn that makes up 23.5% of all investments. Domestic investments in May made up AZN 9.756 bn (81.4%) and foreign - AZN 223.5 million (18.6%).

For comparison, in 2011 domestic sources’ investments totaled AZN 10.26 bn that makes up 80.3% of all investments. Foreign investments reached AZN 2.516 bn that makes up 19.7% of all investments.

For Jan-May 2012 the key sources of investments were enterprises’ funds (AZN 2.077 bn with a 4.5% rise), budget finances (AZN 1.9 bn with rise by 1.8-fold), bank loans (AZN 221.3 million with a 9.6% fall), extra-budgetary funds (AZN 160.5 million with rise by 1.56%), and population’s funds (AZN 99.3 million with decline of 4.5%).

Over Jan-May 2012 state investments totaled AZN 3.3 bn (74.1% of all investments) and non-state investments AZN 1.058 bn (25.9%).  Investments from the State Budget for Jan-May totaled AZN 1.8 bn.
