Italy, France and Israel overstepped $1 bn barrier in trade with Azerbaijan in 2012

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The trio of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners for Jan-May 2012 underwent drastic changes as well as their Top 5. Last year the trio consisted of Italy, France, and Russia as well as in 2010. For Jan-May 2012 it was formed by Italy, France and Israel.

The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for Jan-May 2012 Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with the CIS counterparts totaled $1.377 bn or 9.55% of country’s overall foreign trade turnover ($14.409 bn) versus 15.1% in 2011, 14.47% in 2010, 16.15% in 2009 and 7.21% in 2008.

Over the reported term Azerbaijan exported to the CIS countries commodities for $442.712 million (4.12% of entire export) and imported for $934.332 million (24.43%). As a result, the country had negative balance of $491.6 million in trade with these countries versus net surplus of $351.6 million in 2011.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with non-CIS countries totaled $13.03 bn or 90.45% of country’s foreign trade turnover. Five months’ export to non-CIS countries reached $10.2 bn (95.88% of total export), import $2.74 bn (75.57% of entire import) and the country had $7.551 bn of positive balance with them against $16.46 bn in 2011.

As of 1 June 2012 TOP 5 of the key trade partners of Azerbaijan was as follows: Italy with overall trade turnover of $2.301 bn (import from Azerbaijan for $2.212 bn and export for $88.758 million), France $1.134 bn ($1.073 bn and $61.032 million), Israel - $1.004 bn ($976.418 million and $28.555 million), Indonesia $933.7 million ($911.74 million and $21.959 million), Turkey – $856.318 million ($267.721 million and $588.597 million). Russia became only the 6th by 1 June - $842.856 million ($319.156 million and $1523.7 million), the US – the 7th ($827.804 million, $627.6 million and $200.1 million respectively), Germany – the 8th ($811.6 million, $517.9 million and $293.6 million).

The trio of trade partners consisted of Italy, Russia and France in 2010, Italy, USA and Russia in 2009, Italy, USA and Israel in 2008.
