Sewerage system to appear in Gobustan town in 2014 for the first time

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan’s national water operator OJSC Azersu has held a ceremony on the occasion of completion of the first stage of work on Gobustan town’s water supply reconstruction.

The OJSC reports that at the ceremony head of Azersu  Gorkhmaz Huseynov noted that  supply of drinkable water to Gobustan population started from today.

" At the next stage water supply system of Gobustan town and another 7 villages will be reconstructed, sewerage system will be created and waste water treatment installation built. Work will be made within joint project of Azerbaijani government and Japanese International Cooperation Agency. The tender on this work has already been announced and construction work will start from the second half of 2012",- G. Huseynov said.

Work on Gobustan town’s water supply and sewerage system reconstruction will finish in 2014 due to which water supply of 20.000 people residing in Gobustan and 7 villages will be improved.

OJSC Azersu is presently servicing only 1.960 people out of 8.300 people in Gobustan, which makes 400 subscribers or 25% of the town population. The rest of the town buys water from water trucks and the town fully lacks sewerage system.
